Seguro ya han escuchado hablar de Richard Stallman, el padre del Software Libre. Decidí preguntarle por pura curiosidad que modelo de computadora usa, y aquí les pongo el texto completo:

Dear Mr. Stallman:

I’m a GNU/Linux user and I’m very curious about one thing: What computer model do you use, and what software you typically run? I tried searching for this but didn’t find any answers. I’m asking this because somebody that devotes his entire energies advocating free software surely uses only free software.

Right now, I’m forced to use proprietary drivers for some of the hardware in my laptop… well not exactly forced (I suppose I could use the vesa driver instead for my video card) but if I want the higher resolution I need this, so I’m curious about the hardware you use to do your everyday work.

I hope I don’t take much of your time, you being busy with GPL v3 and everything. Great work by the way, I think you are one of the most visionary, tenacious and hard working person I have ever read about and I look forward at meeting you sometime.

Después de enviar mi correo me llegó una autorespuesta bastante cómica en la que me indicaba que probablemente se tarde entre 24 y 48 horas en responderme. Al día siguiente la respuesta del propio Stallman:

I use a Thinkpad model T23. It has only free software installed. I can’t use the build-in modem because free software doesn’t support that. Or at least it didn’t when I tried. So I got a modem card and use that.

It is a great shame to use the non-free driver. What resolution do you get with a free driver?
